Refugee week is drawing to a close. Our theme this year was healing. We reflect on this, and encourage others to foster empathy, to highlight and engage their communities in both understanding the barriers to healing, and the plight facing migrant survivors of VAWDASV. Along with the risks of sexual exploitation, domestic abuse, and trafficking that may greet vulnerable women and girls on their journey to safety and beyond. We recognize the layers of complexities refugees and asylum seekers face in accessing support, securing their safety, and the further trauma they may face in their healing and recovery journeys. We ask you too, to reflect on, and recognize these. To be empathetic, and to advocate for protection and support.

Drivers play a crucial role on our SWAN Evening Outreach Project as without them we can’t reach outreach locations and deliver much needed support, food and drink to vulnerable women. But they don’t just drive the outreach van, they also assist in support, record information and their vigilance helps keep the team and the community safe. If you’re interested in this role and have a standard full UK driver’s license then get in touch with us at volunteering@swanseawa.org.uk or call Lorna, our Volunteer Coordinator, on 07436125855. ...
