The Children and Young People’s Service (CHYPS) supports 5-17 year olds who have experienced domestic abuse.
We recognise that each child and young person’s experiences of domestic abuse are different and aim to help them make sense of what has happened to them. We provide practical and emotional support to help children and young people recover from domestic abuse. Support workers adopt a child and young person led approach and work hard to support children and young people with the issues that matter most to them. Sessions also aim to promote healthy relationships, raise awareness of domestic abuse and support children and young people to keep themselves safe. The CHYPS project provides a safe place for individuals to talk to someone in confidence about how they are feeling.
Services include:
1:1 support
Sessions are child led and tailored to the person’s individual needs. Sessions can be delivered in schools, our office or at home if safe to do so.
STAR club
The club supports children and young people in a group environment. This helps children to realise that they are not alone in what they have been through and provides a great opportunity for peer support, building confidence and making friends.
Healthy relationship workshops
Workshops are available to schools or youth services to educate children and young people about healthy relationships.

We understand that not everyone can wait to attend an appointment and that especially in a crisis you may want to speak to someone as soon as possible.
