Lynne Sanders – CEO
Lynne has led Swansea Women’s Aid since 2010, after first joining as a volunteer in 1986. With over 20 years’ experience supporting women and children in refuge, her passion for ensuring they are heard, believed, and safe has no limits. She works tirelessly with statutory and voluntary partners to challenge practice, remove barriers, and shape trauma-informed, needs-led services. Under her guidance, the organisation has grown significantly, providing specialist accommodation, community, and outreach support across Swansea for those affected by violence and abuse.
Lynne was awarded a MBE in the Queen’s Honours list in 2022 for services to domestic abuse victims in Swansea in recognition of all her hard work over the years.
Lynne says: “I am honoured to have worked with amazing women and children whose strength and courage inspire me every day to ensure we do all we can to help them live free from abuse.”

Our Policies
At Swansea Women's Aid, we prioritise the safety and well-being of women and children. Our policies reflect our dedication to providing a supportive and nurturing environment.
The Seren Mor Network
The Seren Môr Network consists of five specialist violence against women, domestic
abuse and sexual violence (VAWDASV) partner agencies operating across the
Swansea Bay region:
- BAWSO
- New Pathways
- Stori
- Swansea Women’s Aid
- Thrive Domestic Abuse Services
The main aim and purpose of the network is to strengthen, sustain develop and
protect VAWDASV services across the region. Our partnership has an ethos of
mutual respect, trust, fairness and collective action on the basis that a collective
approach is stronger than individual organisations acting alone, so to become more
resilient and able to respond effectively.
The network enables us to share best practices and avoid duplication so that funds
can be maximised. It ensures sufficient flexibility so that we can respond to
opportunities in the most appropriate way. Key is that the network can champion a
requirement that all parts of the VAWDASV agenda are consistently funded.
Our commitment to working together to end VAWADSV continues and we look
forward to working with our commissioners, strategic and operational partners within
the region, ensuring the voices of all survivors of VAWDASV are heard to drive
forward change and ensure best practice.
